Executive Director Gloria Bruce Announces Transition

Dear friends and supporters,

It is with bittersweet emotion that I am sharing with you that Gloria Bruce, our incredible Executive Director for the past seven years, is moving on to new and exciting opportunities.  Gloria has been the driving force behind EBHO’s growth and success over the last 12 years. As a result of Gloria’s leadership, EBHO is in a robust financial state, growing its staff and membership to create greater impacts in the community. She kept EBHO functioning seamlessly through the pandemic. Thanks to Gloria’s leadership and the hard work of our amazing staff, EBHO is stronger than ever.

On behalf of East Bay Housing Organizations Board of Directors, I want to offer our sincere congratulations and best wishes to Gloria on the next steps of her career.  We cannot thank Gloria enough for the dedication, energy, passion, and enthusiasm she has given EBHO over the years.  For many of us, Gloria is a remarkable friend, ally, mentor, and leader. Gloria’s vision and leadership will be greatly missed.  Please join me, and entire Board of Directors, in thanking Gloria for her service!

The Board has formed a search committee to identify our Interim Executive Director and next Executive Director. This committee will work closely with Gloria to ensure a smooth transition. We will share the job announcement soon and ask for your help in identifying candidates to further our vision of a racially and economically just East Bay where everyone has a safe, stable, and affordable home.

With appreciation,

Hang Mosier

East Bay Housing Organizations Board President

A Message From Gloria Bruce

Dear members and friends,

In October 2010, I started as East Bay Housing Organizations’ Communications & Education Director, never imagining that I’d stay for 12 years and become Executive Director. My time here has been a joy, a challenge, and a source of tremendous personal and professional growth. I learned not just about affordable housing but about community power, policy in service of justice, and the importance of leading with love and hope. I’m so grateful for the relationships I’ve developed along the way.

While it is bittersweet to leave, I’m excited to continue this work through a different lens. In 2023, I will be starting a senior role supporting housing security and public-private partnerships at a local foundation.

I have tremendous confidence in our current team, and I am excited to make way for new leadership. Before I go in early December, I invite you to join us at our Annual Membership Meeting & Celebration on November 2 to learn about our new Strategic Plan and how we will move forward together.

With appreciation,
